Finings Wood and Long Copse is an ancient woodland situated in the heart of the village of Lane End, near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire.
Dog-walkers, ramblers and families delight in the bluebells in spring, cool green shade in summer and vibrant autumn colour. The wood is up for sale and we (the Finings Wood Community Group) are concerned that it will be split up and sold off in small blocks. This would restrict public access and threaten the integrity and biodiversity of the wood. We want to purchase Finings Wood on behalf of the local community in Lane End, to protect and look after it for generations to come. Time is limited. Please give your support and donations NOW! |
Why buy a wood? |
We want to preserve the wood for our village so that the community can continue to enjoy its grassy paths, shaded by mature beech and oak trees. We want to save it from the fate of other local woodlands which have been sold off in small plots, carved up with access tracks, fenced off from the local community and built on.
The woodland stretches from Laceys Farm to Meakes Forge and down the valley. We are creating a management plan which will preserve the ancient woodland and create new and exciting opportunities to use the wood in different ways.
Villagers have already put forward many ideas including natural play and bike trails for families and children, education resources, safe dog exercise zones, environmental projects and so much more.
The list is endless as long as we respect the woodland and ensure it's protected for future generations.
