There is no doubt about it, Lane End has a deep pool of talent to entertain. Today was about conjuring up the long lost folklore, characters and messages that the wild woodland evokes and reflecting them in the bright eyes of our children. It's like all the stories we read to them coming to life. In true Lane End fashion today's children`s walk through Finings Wood was conceived at a rock and roll gig at the village hall a few weeks ago with Theatre on the Row collaborating with the Lane End Players - What's On and Lane End, Finings Wood Group An idea that grew like the little acorns that were collected today and added to the good witch Willow's enchanted spell. Additional note Over 100 Children attended with their grown ups! we were overwhelmed with the support!

Theatre on the Row are delighted to work together with Lane End Finings Wood Group to create a Magical Woodland Walk - Finings Wood on Sunday 30 October. On his current tour the renowned bushcraft expert Ray Mear`s main message is believing that children, and indeed adults, should get out into the forests and woodlands to listen, learn and enjoy the space they offer. Although Ray isn`t coming to Lane End anytime soon, the Parish Council are to discuss Finings Wood next Wednesday 12th October at the Community centre in a closed session after the open public meeting at 7.30pm. We have put a strong and passionate case forward for maximum funding and can now only hope that the council can achieve an outcome that will put Finings Wood on everyone’s list and follow Ray Mear`s vital messages. A rare Ancient Woodland such as Finings Wood right next to Lane End must not be taken for granted. Author Paul Thomas
