Sylvana of #Finingswood has a lovely new little Gingerbread friend to help her tell the world that passes by them about the Finings Wood Christmas Raffle, with just 5 days to go to get your ticket, to win a fabulous hamper 1st prize or a Rucksack 2nd prize. Both are heavy with fabulous content to enjoy and share this Christmas. Snap on the QR code to take you to the page on our website that tells you what to do. All in aid of Lane End, Finings Wood Group efforts to secure these much loved woods and footpaths for the future and well being of the village.
Many thanks for Gingerbread friends. Facebook post by Pauline Thomas Come to Lane end Village hall from 5.30 today! We will be there with the hamper of the year raffle (ticket sales, being drawn next week) and loads of other great things on too!
We updated our privacy policy today. Privacy and handling our supporters information correctly and sensitively is very important to our team. Feel free to
view it here. WOW! Our Christmas Hamper is epic! thank you to everyone who has donated and created incredible items, and to Paul Rees Thomas and Pauline Thomas working so hard to package, list and photograph! We have two prizes now, a first of the Hamper, and a 2nd of a stuffed full backpack! See comments for the list...
Tickets are £5 each, and all information is on our website here https://www.finingswood.org.uk/christmas-raffle.html and there is no maximum on how many tickets you can purchase. You can pay using Paypal or our bank, all details are on the page of the website above, also please comment below on how many tickets you wish to buy and how paid, and I can allocate your ticket numbers to you once we see payment. If you prefer to purchase using Cash, please contact myself, or Paul Rees Thomas and we can advise drop off locations. The raffle closes at 8pm on Friday 20th December and we would hope to deliver your amazing prize over that weekend in plenty of time for Christmas if you are local, or if over 10 miles away, you would need to collect from us in Lane End. The Finings Wood committee are also allowed to purchase tickets for this draw, and you will see a recording of the computer scrolling through all of the entries choosing a winner to ensure it is all fair and above board! Quite took my breath away when I turned around to see after this squall. There were three but this one was the best and very special.
#rainbows #Finingswood Facebook post by Pauline Thomas Finally, some blue sky and sunshine. Get into the woods and kick some leaves. This poem for Autumn is by Leah Cubbage...
For our vision impaired friends the poem reads.. "And now a quiet and lovely wood Becomes a seething glare With Amber, Gold and Crimson leaves That fill the Autumn air" Dare we mention the 'C' word yet? Oh go on then! Well we are now collecting for a super-dooper hamper raffle we will launch in November! So if you have any spare spirits, wine, chocolates, special biscuits, or anything home produced too, we would love to include them in our special hamper.
Send us a message and one of the team can pick up anything you can kindly donate! thanking you in advance :-) We had a fantastic turnout to our Harvest Fair and Treasure Hunt! thank you so much for bringing so much food and produce, and lots of kiddies had fun in the woods finding their clues. We just love this event which is now an annual one it seems!
We had the best time last year with our Apple Day, so we are repeating it this year, but having a Harvest Fair and a Treasure Hunt instead!
September 15th - Lane End Village Hall Garden and Finings Wood Bring your donated home grown produce - fruit, veg, cakes, jams etc., up to the village hall garden at 12pm, and then come back and buy some other peoples donations from 2-4pm and enjoy tea and cakes in the Sycamore room! Bring the kids and they can enjoy a treasure hunt with you in the woods and you can then return with your stash and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea! Help us raise funds for this great mission of saving the woods for the community. We are up at the Lane End Playing fields with the lovely Sports Association's music day! lots of marshmallows being toasted. Come and visit!
Meet the Marsh Mallow Man, born of #FiningsWood and seasons past, who will be selling toasted marshmallows at the LESA Music Festival tomorrow afternoon 29.06.24 at Lane End Playing Fields.
Come and meet him on the Lane End, Finings Wood Group stand, he looks forward to seeing you. #FiningsWood community Group had a Barn Owl sat on some huge logs of Ash to greet everyone to the Lane End Village Fete & Dog Show today.
Our thank-you's for bringing the owl to life must go to Ritchard Tysoe and an enthusiastic succession of Scouts, James, Jack, Oliver, Sam, Callum and Hannah who all warmed up to the role as the sun came out right on cue and just on time. Hope I have not left anyone out in that line up. Thankyou your support it was most appreciated in drawing attention to the huge Ash logs being sold off a 9" slice at a time in aid of Finings Wood. We still have some left if anyone missed out, maybe for a creative project or feature table top 30" diameter for their garden or simply for firewood. Enquiries to Paul (page admin ) please. The blustery wind made creating the green mandela patterns from leaves and plants rather challenging, but larch twigs and fir cones, baby conkers and flowers stayed around best. Thanks too to Alison Hartnett and her excellent team for such a fabulous afternoon and to everyone who dropped by to find out what and where we are up to with Finings Wood Pauline Thomas - facebook post Just because we are quiet, does not mean things are not afoot!

The Bluebells are really just beginning to flower and looking promising. Don't you just love the drifts of beautiful blue. Mind where you tread and do post your #FiningsWood photos of them here in the coming weeks so we can all see them. Just need it to stop raining now and the mud to dry up a bit ! — in Lane End, Buckinghamshire.
Sylvana knows all about the QR code on the poster for a link and asks have you done the Finings Wood questionnaire yet? If you have already then thankyou. #Finingswood #Chilternfootpaths #Ancientwoodland
There was a lot of water everywhere in #Finingswood after last night's heavy rain. It made an interesting photo with the reflection of blue skies and trees in the water overflowing over the footpath. Definitely waterproof boots required. Pauling Thomas - Facebook
